The homeowner, CB, frequently hosted poolside gatherings but faced continuous disruptions and inconvenience. Guests had to walk through the home with wet feet to access a bathroom, leading to constant clean-up and concerns about damaging floors.
Our team designed and built a seamless bathroom addition accessible directly from the pool and a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen, enhancing convenience, enjoyment, and the home’s value.
CB loved hosting poolside gatherings but needed a better setup to keep the party outdoors and their home clean. They envisioned a welcoming and fully functional outdoor area where they could comfortably cook, entertain, and spend quality time with family and friends, without the constant hassle of guests coming in and out of the house.
The primary challenge was designing a bathroom accessible directly from the pool area without disrupting the home’s existing layout. Additionally, the outdoor kitchen needed to seamlessly integrate with the home’s exterior, appearing original to the structure.
From the start, our team prioritized making the new construction look like it’s always been there. For this Lakeland project, that meant carefully matching architectural details and finishes.
During the design phase, we planned the bathroom addition in the former laundry space, which was ideally located near the back door for pool access. We also designed a layout for the outdoor kitchen that complements the pool and existing patio.
First, we relocated the laundry room to another area of the home, ensuring the homeowners still had a functional laundry space. We then gutted the old laundry area and rough-framed it into a new bathroom. Simultaneously, we built the structure for the outdoor kitchen, extending the roofline and patio so the new space would tie into the house’s existing footprint.
Inside the new bathroom, we installed a tiled walk-in shower, a durable floor for wet feet coming from the pool, a matching vanity, and plenty of hooks and storage for towels and swimsuits.
For the outdoor kitchen, we poured a stable concrete pad and built a custom cooking station. We ran plumbing lines for sinks in both the outdoor kitchen and bathroom, and extended gas and electric lines for the grill, refrigerator, and lighting.
The result of this meticulous design-build process is an addition that not only meets the homeowner’s needs but also looks original to the home. Now, they can enjoy grilling and entertaining poolside without worrying about wet footprints inside their home.
The finished project is a backyard oasis that completely changes how the homeowners use their home. What was once a simple pool with a basic patio is now a fully featured outdoor living space. The new bathroom gives guests a private, convenient place to change and clean up during pool parties. The outdoor kitchen has become the heart of summer gatherings.
